Labazan Magomedaliev not allowed to be visited by advocate, his supporters assert

Relatives of Labazan Magomedaliev, the chief of the Department of Education of the Untsukul District, do not know where he is being kept, and he is not allowed to be visited by an advocate. This was reported by participants of the rally held in Untsukul. The authorities have promised to the relatives of Labazan Magomedaliev to arrange a meeting with the Ombudsperson and the Dagestani Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Labazan Magomedaliev was detained on January 15. During a search, according to law enforcers, they found weapons. Today, in Untsukul, relatives and colleagues of the detainee gathered for a rally in his support.

Officials from the Untsukul district administration have promised the rally participants that some of these days, Ummupazil Omarova, Ombudsperson of Dagestan, and one of the Deputy Ministers of Internal Affairs of Dagestan will come to the Untsukul District, and then the protestors will be able to voice their demands. This was stated by one of the detainee's relatives.

"We demand to carry out a fair investigation into the case, without torture of the detainee and with presence of his advocate at the interrogations. The weapon was planted to become an excuse for the detention. We believe that Labazan has been detained to be dismissed," the woman has noted.

According to a source from the Untsukul ROVD (District Interior Division), in addition to the illegal possession of weapons, Labazan Magomedaliev is suspected of having connections with militants.
