Court arrests Azerbaijani oppositionist Mamed Ibragim for two months

Today, in Azerbaijan, the Narimanov District Court has pronounced the decision to arrest Mamed Ibragim, Adviser to the Chair of the oppositional Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), who was detained after a conflict with Mikail Guliev, a former member of the PFPA.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 30, Mamed Ibragim, Adviser to the Chair of the oppositional Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), was detained as a suspect under Article 221 of the Criminal Code (disorderly conduct). Mamed Ibragim was detained after Mikail Guliev, a former member of the PFPA, had filed a complaint against him. On September 29, Mamed Ibragim and Mikail Guliev had a conflict, and as a result, the shirt of Mikail Guliev appeared to be torn. Members of the PFPA believe that Mamed Ibragim is being prosecuted for political reasons.

Today, the Court has arrested Mamed Ibragim for two months, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Yalchin Imanov, the advocate of Mamed Ibragim. "The Court has pronounced a completely unreasonable decision," the advocate believes.

The advocate has announced his intention to challenge the Court's decision.
