Turkey toughens visa regime with Armenia
Turkey has announced that it toughens the visa regime with Armenia in response to the resolution on the Armenian Genocide in Turkey passed by the Committee on International Relations of the US House of Representatives. "Henceforward citizens of Armenia must apply for visas to Turkish diplomatic representatives abroad," reads a statement by the Turkish Foreign Ministry. Earlier, Armenians were able to received entry visas easily while passing through frontier posts of the two neighboring countries or in the international airport in Istanbul upon arrival of charter flights from Yerevan or Tbilisi. Now they will have to turn to Turkish representatives in third countries as Turkey and Armenia have no diplomatic relations.
