Chechen separatist leader does not personally take part in combat operations
The Chechen separatist leader, Aslan Maskhadov, does not personally take part in the operations conducted by his fighters, Akhmed Zakayev, Maskhadov's emissary in Europe, said commenting on the information that the separatist leader had been wounded in Chechnya. According to Ramzan Kadyrov, a son of Chechen President Akhmad Kadyrov and chief of his security service, an operation to block separatists is under way in the mountains of Chechnya's Kurchaloy district. Wounded Maskhadov may be among those separatists, Ramzan Kadyrov said.
