Resident of Stavropol Territory convicted for attack on Chervlyonnaya
A court in Chechnya has sentenced Alaudin Menlibaev, a resident of the Stavropol Territory, finding him guilty of the attack in 1999 on the village of Chervlyonnaya, committed under command of Khattab.
According to law enforcement bodies, in October 1999, in the village of Chervlennaya, Shelkovskoy District, groupings of Shamil Basaev and Khattab attacked a military unit of the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) killing 15 and wounding 28 servicemen.
According to the FSB Department for the Stavropol Territory, the sentence to Alaudin Menlibaev was handed down by the Shelkovskoy District Court of Chechnya, which sentenced him to 10 years of imprisonment in a high security colony, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in mid-March this year residents of Chechnya Rezvan Mulasanov, Bagaudin Kuvanaev, Arslan Taushev, Rasul Koshmanbetov and Rashid Atuov were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 8 to 15 years. They were found guilty of killing Russian servicemen within the grouping of Khattab.
Also, in early March this year, the Supreme Court of Chechnya sentenced Arslan Taushev and Rasul Koshmanbetov to eight years in prison each, after finding them guilty of the attack on Chervlyonnaya in 1999.
