Historical competition award ceremony conducted in Rostov
The ceremony to award winners of a regional round of the All-Russian Historical conducted in Rostov. The competition was organized by the International Society Memorial, the Council of Local Lore of the Russian Academy of Education, and the Russian State Humanitarian University. Rostov students along with their teachers have been taking part in this competition for the fourth year already.
Only 15 essays were nominated for the competition in 2000, 35 did in 2001, 90 did in 2002. In 2003, this number increased and reached 170. In 2004, 40 essays out of 135 presented for the competition were chosen as winners of the regional round. Their authors were invited to Rostov to attend the award ceremony. Myagkova Yuliya from Rostov-on-Don, Gudzenko Vyacheslav from the village of Veshenskaya, and Voropayev Dmitry from Taganrog were awarded the first prize. The jury found the work by Voropayev Dmitry especially interested. The teenager analyzed a diary of his great-grandfather, which he kept from 1925 to 1945.
