Advocate of Khadija Ismayilova complains about non-admission to his client

The advocate Yalcin Imanov has failed to visit in the Baku SIZO (pre-trial prison) journalist Khadija Ismayilova, who is under arrest starting from December 5, 2014.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 5, 2014, Khadija Ismayilova, a staff member of the Azerbaijani office of "Radio Liberty", was summoned to the Baku City Prosecutor's Office, where she was detained. The journalist was charged with inciting her former colleague Tural Mustafaev to a suicide attempt.

On February 13, Khadija Ismayilova was charged with embezzlement on a large scale, illegal entrepreneurship, and abuse of office. On February 24, both criminal cases against the journalist were combined into a single proceeding.

On April 2, Yalcin Imanov wanted to meet Khadija Ismayilova at the Baku SIZO No. 1; however, he did not succeed. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by the advocate himself.

Advocate Yalcin Imanov is involved as a witness in the case of the Baku office of "Radio Liberty". Therefore, he is waived from the protection of the journalist. This was stated by the letter of investigator of the Investigating Department of Serious Crimes of the General Prosecutor's Office.

The advocate did not exclude the possibility of appealing against the actions of the SIZO's administration to the court.
