In Ingushetia, gunmen attack house of Magomed Khazbiev

Last night, in Nazran, the house of Magomed Khazbiev, an Ingush opposition activist, was attacked by unidentified gunmen. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Leila, the wife of Magomed Khazbiev.

According to the woman, the incident occurred at 2:15 a.m. Moscow time.

At the time of the attack, the parents of Magomed Khazbiev, Leila herself with a child and one more daughter-in-law were at home. No one was hurt as a result of the incident. The parents of Magomed Khazbiev called the police.

Magomed Khazbiev is the head of the regional branch of the Republican Party of Russia-People's Freedom Party, and he owns the website of Ingushetiyaru.org, which in April 2013 was recognized extremist by the decision of the court. On January 31, YouTube published a 20-minute video message of Magomed Khazbiev, in which he criticized Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov and accused him of political persecution.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 1, according to Khedy Ibrieva, the advocate of Magomed Khazbiev, the activist was attacked in Grozny. However, he was not injured. In Ingushetia, Magomed Khazbiev and his family members were suspected of stealing vehicles and storing weapons. Magomed Khazbiev, who was put on the wanted list, treated the suspicions voiced by the police as political persecution.
