Azerbaijani politicians demand to add co-chairs from Germany and Turkey to OSCE Minsk Group
This initiative was put forward by Azerbaijani political scientists, who believe that the current format of the OSCE Minsk Group is unable to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The roundtable "The OSCE Minsk Group: inability or limited mandate?" was held at the International Press Centre in Baku; it was organized by the Azerbaijani Society of Humanitarian Studies, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
"Despite the fact that the OSCE Minsk Group is acting in accordance with the UN mandate, it fails to follow the Resolutions of the UN Security Council," said Mubariz Akhmedoglu, a political scientist and the head of the Centre for Political Innovations and Technologies.
He offered to change the format of the OSCE Minsk Group by adding, along with the Co-Chairs from Russia, USA and France, also Co-Chairs from Germany and Turkey.
However, some experts noted at the roundtable that the change of the format of the OSCE Minsk Group would give nothing new.
In the opinion of Rasim Musabekov, a political scientist and an MP, the settlement of the situation in Ukraine "may have some influence on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh."
According to Zardusht Alizade, a political scientist, believes that the countries-co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, while supporting Armenia, prevent the conflict settlement.
