Azerbaijan: arrest of journalist Khadija Ismayilova extended until March 24

The Sabail District Court of Baku has partially granted the petition lodged by the prosecutor's office of the capital of Azerbaijan and extended the arrest of the journalist Khadija Ismayilova by 1 month and 19 days.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Khadija Ismayilova, an employee of the Azerbaijani Service of Radio Liberty, is accused of incitement to a suicide attempt of her former colleague Tural Mustafaev.

The prosecutor's office has motivated its petition by the fact that they have not received the drug examination conclusion on Mustafaev and by the fear that the arrested journalist "may hide from the investigation," said Yalchin Imanov, a Khadija's advocate.

According to his version, any protraction of the inquiry has no sense.
