Avarian khanate
Feudal possession in the central part of Dagestan in 12-19 centuries. It was formed on a place of an early Middle Ages kingdom of Serir. At Ummah-khan (died in 1634) the Avarian khanate was a large feudal association. The greatest power had been achieved in the 18 century when it submitted a Jaro-belokhanate society and when king of Georgia, khans of Derbent, Cuban' and others rendered tribute. The interlacing of feudal relations with vestiges of patrimonial formation was typical to the economy of Avarian khanate. Since 16 century it repeatedly entered under protectorate of Russia, in 1803 joined Russia. In the 20-50s of 19 century the territory of Avarian khanate entered into Imamat. In 1864 the khanate was liquidated by the imperial government, and its territory was transformed into Avarian district.
