Georgia offers Abkhazia special status within united state
On May 17, Georgian TV company Rustavi 2 published a draft document drawn out by the country's authorities in order to resolve the Abkhazian conflict in a peaceful way. The presentation of this document is to take place within the next few days. It is created on the basis of the so called Boden's plan for the peaceful resolution of the conflict, in which Abkhazia is considered as a sovereign state within independent Georgia.
The document reads in particular that the parties decline to use force and create a federative state in which Abkhazia will have special political and legal status. At the same time Abkhazia will be given guarantees of human rights observance and protection of all freedoms, including national, religious and other ones.
