Round table on Russia's interests in Transcaucasia takes place in Moscow
The Rosbalt news agency supported by the Institute of System Projects has arranged the round table discussion titled "Does Russia lose Transcaucasia?" Among the participants were deputy head of the State Duma Committee on the CIS and Relations with Nationals Andrey Saveliev, deputy head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Aleksandr Kruglov, director of the Institute of CIS Countries Konstantin Zatulin, leading expert of the Russian Public Policy Center Vladimir Goryunov, and Expert Council member of the Carnegie Moscow Center Aleksey Malashenko. Officials of the Abkhazian delegation in Russia and the Georgian Embassy to Russia also took part in the discussion. Participants discussed the situation in Transcaucasia and Moscow's possible lose of allies; the change of power in Adjaria as a strategic loss; the development of the situation around Abkhazia and South Osetia threatening to destabilize the entire region.
