Director of Makhachkala marketplace wounded at kidnapping attempt

Gamid Gamidov, Director of the "Eastern Marketplace" in Makhachkala was wounded when resisting his kidnappers, said an investigator. In grave condition, Gamidov is now at the intensive care unit of the Republic's Clinical Hospital.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 12 a shootout burst out at the intersection of Lyakhov and Shamsula Aliev Street in Makhachkala, which resulted in severe injuries of two persons, who were hospitalized. One of them, Murad Bulatov, 35, later died, the other, Gamid Gamidov, is under intensive care.

According to Rasul Temirbekov, Senior Assistant to the Head of the Investigating Department for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), about a month ago they already tried to kidnap Gamidov. This time he rendered an active resistance. Besides, a man, who happened to be nearby, hurried to help him. The attackers, seeing that they could not put Gamidov into their car, opened fire.

According to investigators, the 31-year-old Gamidov is a co-owner of the "Eastern Marketplace" and a son of Abdulakhad Gamidov, a former director of the marketplace.

As reported by Isalmagomed Nabiev, the head of the Independent Trade Union of Entrepreneurs and Drivers of Dagestan, there were numerous attempts to capture the "Eastern Marketplace", but "its owners managed to fight back successfully."
