Minvody residents demand to investigate beating up of hospital patient

On September 28, the city of Mineralnye Vody (Minvody) hosted a protest action, during which the protestors demanded to conduct a fair investigation into the fact of beating of a man at the Central District Hospital of the city. The protestors were informed by the local deputy police chief that two-thirds of the total number of the fighters had been detained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a resonant incident occurred at the Central Hospital of Minvody after a young man injured in a fight at a local cafe had been hospitalized. According to investigators, about 40 persons broke into the hospital and started a fight. As a result, a friend of the victim was seriously injured. Someone posted on the Internet the video record of the incident, showing that the security service of the hospital failed to intervene in the situation.

The yesterday's protest action held in front of the city police building was attended by about 500 people, the local portal "Govorun26" reports.

The protesters were met by Sergey Grachov, the local deputy police chief. He has stated that law enforcers detained only two-thirds of the suspects. The official has added that the total number of suspects reaches 38.

All men who have broken into the hospital on September 21 are identified. The investigators have detected the main suspect among them. According to the law enforcers, he is the man who inflicted grave bodily injuries to the victim. Today, website of the Department for the StavropolTerritory of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported that the main suspect has been detained.

Today, Alexei Larionov, 31 years old, who was badly hurt in the fight, has died in the hospital without regaining consciousness.

The organizers of yesterday’s protest action intend to hold another rally demanding a fair investigation into the incident. They filed application to the Administration of Mineralnye Vody requesting permission to hold an action on October 5.
