In Krasnodar Territory, doctor is fined for storing Jehovah's Witnesses' book at her working place

In the Bryukhovetskaya District of the Krasnodar Territory, an ambulance doctor has been fined by the court for storing in the desktop and offering for reading a book of Jehovah's Witnesses, the Prosecutor's Office of the Krasnodar Territory reports.

According to prosecutors, the book, which the woman stored at her working place, was included in the federal list of extremist materials. Meanwhile, according to the Prosecutor's Office, when offering the book to other hospital staff members for reading, the doctor "made judgments that her colleagues professed false religion."

The court's decision against the doctor, a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses community, has already entered into force, stated the message posted at the website of the information-analytical centre "SOVA".

"We believe the persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses and prohibition of their texts for extremism is unlawful, and we treat it as religious discrimination," the message of the centre "SOVA" emphasizes.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that in July, seven members of the Taganrog Jehovah's Witnesses community were fined and sentenced to conditional sentences in the case of extremism; however, they were exempted from paying the fine for expiry of the period of limitations. The Jehovah's Witnesses did not plead guilty, and advocates of the defendants claimed absence of constituent elements of crime in the case.
