Grand Prix of "Golden Apricot" goes to Ukrainian "Plemya"

The Grand Prix of the 11th International Film Festival "Golden Apricot" in Yerevan was awarded to the film "Plemya" (Tribe) by the Ukrainian film director Miroslav Slaboshpitskiy, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the press centre of the Festival.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the 11th "Golden Apricot" was opened in Yerevan on July 13 with presentation of 70 films from 95 countries.

The winner was decided on July 19.

The "Plemya" tells a dramatic story of first love of a deaf guy named Sergey, who passes over to his 11th grade year at high school. The events take place in the boarding school for deaf children in Kiev. The film director shows the relationships of the hero with his classmates and the girl Anya. The film is made in the sign language about people with disabilities. Nonprofessional actors – deaf young people – are starring in the movie.

Let us remind you that this year the festival organizers received a record number of applications for taking part in the competition programme "Armenian Panorama" – 130 ones; of which 18 films were selected for screening. The festival was a great success – the cinemas were packed.
