Conference on interethnic relations and xenophobia held in Krasnodar Region
The conference "The Role of Human Rights Organizations in Normalizing Interethnic Relations and Overcoming Xenophobia in the South Federal District" was held in Sochi on April 25-26. More than 50 people representing public and religious organizations, ethnic minorities of Russia's South, and government took part in it. The Commission on Human Rights in Krasnodar Region was among them.
As a Regnum correspondent was told at the Novorossiysk City Committee on Human Rights, reporters from Stavropol, Ingushetia, Adygeya, Karachaevo-Cherkessia, and Kalmykia told about numerous facts of xenophobia and the experience of overcoming it.
The conference was held within the framework of the Public Campaign for Overcoming Xenophobia, Racial Discrimination, and Anti-Semitism in the Multination Russian Federation project, which is implemented by the Moscow Bureau on Human Rights, the Moscow Helsinki Group, and the Union of Councils for Jews in the Former Soviet Union (UCSJ) with the assistance of the European Union.
