The Khachkar stone cross, a monument to victims of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire, was unveiled in the Georgian town of Akhaltsikhe on April 24.

Questions regarding the erection of the monument were solved by efforts of the Georgian president's envoy in the region of Samtskhe-Javakheti Nikoloz Nikolozoshvili and local authorities the day before the unveiling of Khachkar, reported the Armenian foreign ministry. To note, Khachkar had been dismantled by officers of law-enforcement agencies. They had said there had been no permission for the erection of the monument.
