Youth action against neonazism in Krasnodar

A youth action started in Krasnodar on April 20 within the framework of the Counteraction to Language of Hostility: the Civil Position of Russian NGOs and Media project. Several tens of students, NGO activists, and journalists made their way to places in Krasnodar where neonazis were known to gather and leave their typical marks and inscriptions. Actions participants distributed leaflets among passers-by calling upon them to switch form language of hostility to normal human language. Many Krasnodar people joined the activists. They readily took spray cans and painted over propaganda slogans and marks leaving life-asserting symbols instead.

The Counteraction to Language of Hostility: the Civil Position of Russian NGOs and Media project is arranged by the Center for Development of Democracy and Human Rights and the Social Information Agency with the assistance of the European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR). It is successfully implemented in Ryazan, Perm, Irkutsk, Saint Petersburg, and Krasnodar. This action was the first in the series of actions planned within the framework of the aforesaid project in Krasnodar by the Krasnodar regional NGO Southern Wave.
