After explosions in Pyatigorsk and Volgograd, North Ossetia strengthen security measures

As reported by Alla Akhpolova, the press secretary of the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), after the explosions Volgograd and Pyatigorsk, law enforcement bodies of North Ossetia were put into the strengthened regime of service.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 27 in Pyatigorsk a car was blown up in front of the GIBDD (traffic police) building. The explosion killed three bystanders. On December 29, a terror act at the railway station in Volgograd killed 19 people, including the suicide bomber; and in the morning on December 30 another explosion was triggered in a Volgograd trolleybus and killed 17 people, including the suicide bomber.

To prevent possible terror acts in North Ossetian, law enforcers use dogs to inspect crowded places, including bus and railway stations and the airport of Vladikavkaz. Inspections have been strengthened at all posts, especially on the administrative border with Ingushetia.

Besides, Vladikavkaz has temporarily restricted traffic in a number of streets and avenues, Ms Akhpolova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

On December 30, the antiterrorist commission and the operational headquarters of North Ossetia also asked residents and guests of the republic to exercise increased vigilance and immediately report about any suspicious objects or people to law enforcement bodies.
