Fast response human rights group created in Armenia
A fast response human rights group has been created in Armenia. Seven large human rights organizations form the group, Tamara Ovnanian, who is in charge of information at Civil Society Institute, told a Rosbalt correspondent. The reason for the creation of the group lies in mass violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms registered in Armenia for the last few days. Human rights defenders mention arbitrary bans on meetings, bans on citizens' free movement in the country, illegal detentions, and attacks against media representatives. Besides, the human rights defenders point to the cases of persecution of dissenters and biased behavior of the police. The human rights defenders rate all these facts as state terror and an attempt to spread the atmosphere of fear in the country. "The group is going to inform the public of all human rights violations in Armenia as fast as possible, especially under conditions of the today's information blockade," Tamara Ovnanian said.
