Aslan Cherkesov placed in intensive care unit of prison hospital, advocate reports

Aslan Cherkesov is in the intensive care unit of the prison hospital of the IK-17, Krasnoyarsk Territory. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learnt about it from the lawyer Baizanat Selmurzaeva, who is representing Cherkesov's interests.

Let us remind you that that Aslan Cherkesov, a native of Kabardino-Balkaria, was found guilty by the court of killing Yegor Sviridov, a football fan of the Moscow "Spartak" FC, and sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment in a high security colony. Aslan Cherkesov himself refused to plead guilty. On January 24, 2012, by the Supreme Court of Russia, the sentence was commuted: the term of imprisonment was reduced to 19 years and 10 months.

According to Selmurzaeva, her client was placed into the intensive care unit because he felt bad, but she does not know what exactly happened. She saw no traces of beating on him; and Aslan Cherkesov did not tell her about any physical violence applied to him.

Sonia Cherkesova, Aslan's mother, believes that the reason for the sharp deterioration in her son's health was in the drug haloperidol, administered to him by prison hospital doctors.

Let us remind you that in November Aslan Cherkesov's relatives appealed to the Investigating Committee, the General Prosecutor's Office and the Office of the Federal Penitentiary Service in the Krasnoyarsk Territory upon his involuntary treatment with haloperidol. Then the prison authorities explained that Cherkesov received treatment "against a neuropsychiatric disease."
