32nd US state recognizes Armenian Genocide
The state of Montana has become the 32nd in the United States to recognize the Armenian Genocide, reported the Washington office of the Hay Dat Committee of the ARF (Armenian Revolutionary Federation) Dashnaktsutyun. "I welcome the efforts of the Hay Dat Committee seeking recognition of the barbarian genocide committed by the government of the Ottoman Turkey in 1915-1923, the genocide to which 1.5 million Christians - Armenian men, women, and children - fell prey," the Governor of Montana, Judy Martz, noted in her latter to the Hay Dat office. She also said it was necessary to commemorate the 89th anniversary of the genocide since it will play a great role in the cause of ruling out a chance that such crimes will be repeated.
