Employees of Kutaisi prison detained in Georgia on the case of torture
Today Chief Public Prosecutor's office of Georgia detained four employees of Kutaisi prison No 16 on the case of inhuman treatment of prisoners, Public Prosecutor Shota Tkeshelashvili informed.
"Within the framework of investigation law enforcement personnel detained Director of Kutaisi prison No 16 Zurab Rukhaya, regime supervisor David Narsia and inspectors on duty of the prison Nicoloz Vakhtangishvili and Georgy Grdzelidze", Tkeshelashvili reported.
According to him, a charge on clause "torture" of the Criminal Code of Georgia was brought against all the for detainees.
One more person accused of tortures in Gldan prison No 8, ex-employee of this prison Vladimir Bedukadze, has a wanted notice by red circular of Interpol, Press Service of the Ministry of Interior Affairs reports.
On September, 18, a charge by default according to clause "torture" of the Criminal Code of Georgia was brought against Vladimir Bedukadze.
Public Prosecutor Shota Tkeshelashvili informed that investigation on the case of torture and inhuman treatment of prisoners was going on. The process of investigation will be made public, "Georgia Online" reports.
