Albert Gazarian: no national strategy of diplomacy in Karabakh
In his interview with the Caucasian Knot correspondent, Albert Gazarian, former special representative of the Nagorno-Karabakh State Defense Committee in Armenia (1993), former aide to the president of the Republic of Nagorny Karabakh responsible for foreign issues (1998) and present chairman of the Nagorno-Karabakh Christian Democratic Party, gave a negative evaluation to the actions of Armenian foreign policy departments during the last 12 years. He believes the Karabakh movement started with the demand about national self-determination of Nagorny Karabakh, however the issue has been considered from the territorial angle since 1992. "It is not by accident that the world powers persistently present the conflict as the one between Armenia and Azerbaijan and not between Karabakh and Azerbaijan. I think we should stake on the anti-colonial struggle and follow the path of African countries, India, Australia, and countries of Latin America. These countries successfully freed themselves from the colonial yoke in the middle of the last century, and the world has recognized and approved it. But we sill make no headway because we have no national strategy of professional diplomacy," said Mr. Gazarian.
