Turkish Minister of Culture denounces refusal to show film by Atom Egoyan "Ararat" in Turkey

In his interview with Turkish TV Channel NTV, Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Erkan Mumcu denounced the refusal to show the film by Atom Egoyan "Ararat" in Turkey.

According to him, the actions of the management of Belge Company, which has a right to show this film in Turkey, were irrelevant when they invited suggestions of Devlet Bahceli, leader of the Turkish nationalists. At the same time, Erkan Mumcu emphasized that the showing of Ararat in Turkey was not prohibited after all. The matter concerns only the refusal of Belge Company to show the film in Turkey. To remind, private showings of Ararat, which tells about the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire, are taking place in Turkey nevertheless, as reported by the Turkish newspaper "Sabakh".
