Book "Human Rights Monitoring" presented in Baku

The book "Human Rights Monitoring" was presented by Saida Godjamanly, director of the Bureau for Human Rights and Rule of Law, at the office of the Bureau on February 9. This book was published in Warsaw in 2001 by efforts of the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, Poland.

The present edition is in Azerbaijan. The Bureau timed it to the day to remember Marek Nowicki, the Polish dissident, founder of the Polish Solidarity Movement, scientist and human rights activist, who died in November 2003. 7 Azerbaijan human rights activists - disciples of Marek Nowicki - were present at the action.

Speaking on topicality of the book, Ms Godjamanly said, "This edition is a manual not only for human rights activists, but for the ombudsman, political parties, and journalists."

She expressed thanks on behalf of her colleagues to the Open Society Institute (Soros Foundation) for its financial support while publishing the book.
