South Caucasian Press Club of Refugee Journalists established

The South Caucasian Press Club of Refugee Journalists has been established. Its creation was initiated by refugee journalists as a result of their meeting in Tbilisi in late January. Delegations from Armenia and Azerbaijan took part in the action, which was arranged by Helsinki Citizens' Assembly National Committee of Georgia with the financial support of the Danish Refugee Council. Helsinki Citizens' Assembly National Committees of Armenia and Azerbaijan were partners of the program. Helsinki Citizens' Assembly National Committee of Georgia Chairman Aleksandr Rusetsky stressed that "the task of the club was to grow to be a professional association, which would focus on keeping peace in the region." As meeting participants emphasized, the refugee journalists are better aware of the problems of refugees, as well as of the situation with other risk groups, which are in close contact with the group of refugees and internally displaced persons. The organization's Charter and main lines of its activity were approved at the meeting.
