Osetins hold action of protest in front of Georgian Supreme Court
30 people - members of the Association of Osetins in Georgia headed by Tengiz Gagloev - held an action of protest in front of the Supreme Court of Georgia in Tbilisi on January 29. The goal of the action was to express a protest against discrimination of national minorities and corruption in Georgian judicial bodies. The action was caused by the refusal of a Tbilisi circuit court to acknowledge a floor space as property of a man of Osetian nationality.
The retrial of the case is to take place at the Georgian Supreme Court on February 19. If the court does not make a decision to acknowledge the rightful owner of the flat, the Association of Osetins in Georgia will hold a protest action of a greater scale and will file a complaint with the European Court in Strasbourg. This is the first action in defense of human rights that this association holds in Georgia.
