Abkhazian social and political movements and Forum of People's Consent demand to speed up process of working out laws on presidential elections and elections for National Assembly

The statement issued on January 29 reads: "The society is experiencing a political crisis. The government's actions have created a dangerously explosive situation in the country. Our disagreement with the demand that the president should resign ahead of schedule does not mean we stand up for the acting ruling system. But we object to unconstitutional ways of resolving the matured problems."

Representatives of the Forum of People's Consent, Aydgilara and Akhyatsa movements, Republican and Communist Parties hold that "the process of passing these laws must be as public as possible, with opinions of social and political organizations being taken into consideration." It is also essential that the laws on the Constitutional Court and on the impeachment of the Abkhazian President should be passed, think the authors of the appeal.

In its turn, the Abkhazian People's Party also demands that the President and the Parliament should work out and introduce amendments to the laws on presidential and general elections and elections for institutions of local governing as fast as they can.
