No information about abducted activist of Georgian Association of Young Political Scientists and Journalists
By now law-enforcement agencies have no information on the destiny of 25-year-old David Badjagua, the activist of the Georgina NGO Association of Young Political Scientists and Journalists abducted in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone. He was a member the group to escort children from Georgian families living in the Gali district, which is under control of the Abkhazian side. The children were invited to Tbilisi to take part in New Year celebrations.
At about 7 p.m. on January 27, when members of the Association of Young Political Scientists and Journalists were returning to Tbilisi after getting the children home, they were stopped and beaten by gunmen near the village of Orsantia, which is in the Zugdidi district controlled by the Georgian side. Then the gunmen carried off David Badjagua in the direction of the Gali district. The Association members assert that was an Abkhazian armed unit looking exactly for Badjagua.
The prosecutor of the Zugdidi district, Mebrdzol Chkadua, told the Regnum correspondent that no information about David Badjagua or the abductor's demands had been received.
It should be noted that the abduction of Badjagua took place in the so called security zone, which is under control of the Russian peacekeepers dislocated in the zone of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict.
