Ombudswoman of Azerbaijan prepares proposals to improve legislation in human rights field
Ombudswoman of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova is preparing a number of proposals concerning the national policy in the field of human rights.
She plans to submit these proposals to the president of the country and to the parliament by the end of 2003.
"The proposals refer to the improvement of laws concerning support to pensioners, seniors, refugees and forced migrants, veterans of war and other sections of people," the commissioner for human rights told journalists December 24.
Elmira Suleymanova reported she has received 4500 complaints from the citizens in 2003. A little more than a half of them came within her authority as the ombudswoman and was taken for consideration.
Besides, three representative offices of the commissioner have been opened in the country's regions for that period of time.
