Kokoity gives 3 days to South-Ossetian GPO for investigating the incident in Parliament

Any illegal forms of influencing the deputy corps should be toughly suppressed, said South-Ossetian President Eduard Kokoity in his comment on the events of June 15 in the Republic's Parliament, which was attacked, right during the sitting, by supporters of extending Kokoity's presidency, who disrupted the course of the session.

Members of the initiative group disrupted the course of the session and exerted pressure on the MPs; as a result of which some parliamentarians decided to resign in protest, said the Speaker Stanislav Kochiev.

Mr Kokoity has instructed Taimuraz Khugaev, head of the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of South Ossetia, to clear out all the circumstances of the incident within three days.

"Article 1 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Ossetia says that South Ossetia is a legal and democratic state. It is not yet legal, but if we want to build it that way, we have to respect the laws and obey the legislation in force," Lira Kozaeva, chair of the "Association of South-Ossetian Women for Democracy and Human Rights", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent in her comment on the situation.
