Convict for attempt on Isa Yamadaev challenges his verdict

The verdict of the Moscow Regional Court to Khavazhi Yusupov, a native of Chechnya, which sentenced him to 8.5 years of imprisonment for his attempt on businessman Isa Yamadaev - a brother of earlier assassinated ex-deputy of the Russian State Duma Ruslan Yamadaev and ex-commander of the "Vostok" battalion "East" Sulim Yamadaev, has been appealed against at the Supreme Court of Russia.

The appointed advocate refused to appeal against the verdict, but it was done by the two defenders hired by Khavazhi's relatives. According to their version, the attempt was staged. Allegedly, the pistol had been left for storage to Yusupov by the youngest of Yamadaev brothers - Badrudi. The order to kill Isa Yamadaev was delivered, according to the version of the defence, through an intermediary - one of brothers' securities.

According to advocate Shamsudin Tsakaev, the intermediary recorded, when persuading his client to commit a crime, all the negotiations; later, these records were put into the basis of the charge. As the defence asserts, Khavazhi Yusupov did not shoot at Yamadaev, even did not take the pistol out. In the opinion of the advocates, he later pled guilty under pressure. The video record of the attempt was not presented at the trial, the "Kommersant" writes.

On June 23, Isa Yamadaev refused to discuss the version of the defence.
