CE reminds Armenia of ECtHR's decision on "A1+" TV Company
The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CE) has reminded the government of Armenia about the need to enforce the decision of the European Court on Human Rights (ECtHR) on the "A1+" TV Company. According to the verdict, Armenia should give chance to the Company to take part in the tender for broadcasting frequencies and for its return on air.
The Committee of Ministers asked the Armenian authorities about the progress in announcing the tender and reminded that it still waits for detailed information on application by the competent judicial authorities of the means of legal defence of the claimant, that is, of the "A1+" TV Company.
Let us remind you that on July 17, 2008, the ECtHR satisfied the claim of the "A1+" TV Company, having found that the 2002 deprivation of the Company's right to broadcast was a breach of the right to freedom of speech.
