Akhmad Kadyrov was sworn in as president of Chechnya
Akhmad Kadyrov, president elect of Chechnya, was sworn into the office in an inauguration ceremony in Gudermes Sunday, reported an official of the Chechen presidential staff.
"Hussein Isayev, head of the Chechen State Council, gave the floor to Republican Election Commission Chairman Abdul-Kerim Arsakhanov, who announced the outcome of the elections and presented a president's card to Akhmad Kadyrov," said the agency's interviewee.
Kadyrov then took his oaths of office, swearing to serve the peoples of Chechnya and to abide by the constitutions of the Russian Federation and the Chechen Republic, he proceeded.
Events to celebrate the inauguration were held in the Gudermes City Hall, the source reported.
It is worth reminding that Kadyrov was voted in by an overwhelming 80% majority in October 5 polls.
