Saakashvili's words about restart of armed conflict caused sharp reaction of Sukhumi

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Abkhazia has expressed its serious concern of the speech of President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili at the Royal Institute of International Relations in London, where he reconfirmed the intention of the Georgian party to solve the Georgian-Abkhazian and Georgian-Ossetian conflicts by force of arms.

Let us remind you that on February 17 in London Mikhail Saakashvili stated that he could not exclude restart of an armed conflict in the region, adjacent to the western and northern borders of Georgia, with participation of Georgian troops. "A new invasion is possible," said the president then.

"In the course of Georgian-Abkhazian negotiations, the Georgian party repeatedly broke the agreements signed by the parties and taken obligations. It's no surprise that the policy of Georgia's leaders does not change and is aimed exclusively towards an armed settlement of conflicts, which is confirmed by the incessant intensive remilitarization of Georgia," runs the today's statement of the Abkhazian MFA.

The Ministry's alertness is also caused by the attitude of many western countries, which continue, "despite the recent Georgia's aggression on South Ossetia, continue their intensive military help, encouraging Georgian leaders to new aggressive endeavours."
