Georgia tries one of "Mukhrovani rebels"
Today, a process on the case of military expert Vakhtang Maisaya, accused of espionage, started in the capital of Georgia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the military expert, doctor of political sciences Vakhtang Maisaya was detained on May 5 on the case about the mutiny at the military base in Mukhrovani. Later he confessed that he had been an agent of foreign special services.
"In August 2008, during the Georgian-Russian war, he sent data, on the hourly basis, about disposition of armed forces of Georgia, count of military machines and deployment of units. Instead, Maisaya received sums of money, accumulated in his account at the "Basisbank". His criminal actions are stipulated by Article 314, part one, of the Criminal Code of Georgia, - "Espionage", assuming up to 12 years in prison," the "Georgia Today" quotes the statement of the MIA of Georgia.
On the eve of the trial, the Georgian MIA disseminated the video record of Vakhtang Maisaya's confessions and audio records of his telephone conversations with his customers.
In his confessions, as presented by the MIA, Maisaya, in particular, said that he had received 3000 euros for his information, presented to his customer during the Georgian-Russian war.
The "Interfax" reports that the trial was held closed as the considered documents have classified and secret information.
