Moscow GUVD sends Kadyrov vs. Orlov criminal case to prosecutor's office

All the materials of the case concerning Oleg Orlov, head of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", under the article of slander have been transferred to the Moscow prosecutor's office. This was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Andrei Krasnenkov, advocate of President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, who had submitted an application demanding to initiate a criminal case against Mr Orlov.

Mr Krasnenkov said that all the materials of the case had been delivered to the prosecutor's office of Moscow. "The answer is expected next week. Since the materials are already at the prosecutor's office, most likely, the decision on initiation of the criminal case has been made. Otherwise, they couldn't send the papers," he explained.

The division for inquiry of the Moscow GUVD (City Interior Department) refused to say, whether the criminal case against Oleg Orlov had been opened. "This is service information; I can't share it with you," said Roman Pilipenko, acting head of the division. The press service of the GUVD also could not answer this question.

Oleg Orlov hopes that the decision will be the same as the last time, when the GUVD refused to open a criminal case on the basis of the law. "That decision was completely based on the provisions of the law," said the human rights activist.
