"Memorial" files cassation on court ruling on Chechen President's claim

The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" has appealed against the ruling of the Tver Court of Moscow, which had partially satisfied the claim of President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov against the head of the Centre Oleg Orlov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the court satisfied Ramzan Kadyrov's claim to the HRC "Memorial" and Oleg Orlov personally on defence of honour and dignity and ruled to collect 50,000 roubles from the HRC "Memorial" and 20,000 roubles from Oleg Orlov in favour of Chechen President. The pretext for the trial was Orlov's accusation of Kadyrov of his involvement in the murder of human rights advocate Natalia Estemirova.

"Today, on October 14, the respondents have sent a brief cassation complaint to the Moscow City Court against the ruling, demanding to cancel it and satisfy their claims. As soon as the complete text of the court ruling is issued to the respondents, they will add the cassation complaint," the "Gazeta.Ru" quotes the statement of the "Memorial".

Meanwhile, Ramzan Kadyrov is also dissatisfied with the ruling of the Tver Court. In particular, he does not accept the sums of compensation. Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow his advocate Andrei Krasnenkov plans to lodge his cassation complaint, the "Interfax" reports.
