Blockers of Adler-Krasnaya Polyana highway detained in Sochi

Activists-ecologists Andrei Rudomakha and Suren Gazaryan, participants of the action against felling on the route of the Adler-Krasnaya Polyana highway in Sochi, are have been detained by the militia in the place of the action and are now transported to the city. They told about it by telephone to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"We called militia ourselves," said Andrei Rudomakha, "but instead of stopping the illegal felling of trees, they detained us. They refused to draw up a detention protocol, although we kept insisting."

According to the ecologist, other participants of the action remained in place. However, in spite of protests, the felling, which was resumed today, continues. Mr Rudomakha has noted that Suren Gazaryan tried to stop the cutters and received a trauma - his leg was touched by a saw.

The place of the action was also visited by Igor Shakhov, head of the department of forests and parks of the administration of Sochi, who has confirmed that the felling was conducted without any approved projects of forest development and actually was illegal.

The militiamen of the Adler ROVD interrogated the employees of the LLC "Stroydor-A". No official representatives of the OJSC "Russian Railways", USK "Most" and State Company "Olympstroy" ever appeared in the place of the action.
