Rashid Gaisanov will temporarily act for wounded President of Ingushetia

Kaloy Akhilgov, press secretary of the President of Ingushetia, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that Rashid Gaisanov, Chairman of the Government of Ingushetia, will temporarily act for wounded Yunus-Bek Evkurov.

According to Akhilgov, now the health condition of Evkurov, who was wounded in an attempt on him, is out of danger. "He was operated on, and, as doctors say, successfully. Currently, there's no threat to his life," he has added.

The press secretary has also refuted the information placed by some media that President's brother - Uvais Evkurov - was killed by the explosion. "Evkurov's brother was wounded, but not seriously," Mr Akhilgov has added.

The explosion in Nazran has caused a broad public resonance. The correspondent of the "Interfax-South" Agency reports that about a thousand local residents have rallied near the building of the Republic's Clinical Hospital in the Ingush capital, where wounded President Yunus-Bek Evkurov and his bodyguards were placed. They came here to learn about Evkurov's health condition and to help, if necessary. Representatives of practically all organizations, agencies and establishments of Ingushetia are also here.

We remind you that today in the morning a powerful bomb exploded along the way of the cortege of the President of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov. The incident happened in the highway Nazran-Magas at about 9 in the morning. As a result of the explosion, the leader of the republic and his three companions received wounds of different gravity. One of them, militia private Mustafa Kotiev, later died on the way to hospital.

The inquiry has established that the bomb, which was, by preliminary data, of at least 70 kilos of trotyl equivalent, had been placed in a Toyota car parked on the road shoulder. It is not excluded also that the car stuffed with explosive could be driven by a terrorist-suicide bomber.

In the context of the incident, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in the Nazran District. President of Russia Dmitri Medvedev sent his plenipotentiary representative in the Southern Federal District (SFD) Vladimir Ustinov to Ingushetia. In connection with latest events, the law enforcement bodies of the neighbouring Chechen Republic were switched over into increased readiness.

The investigation of the case is under personal control of Public Prosecutor of Russia Yuri Chaika.
