ANC: Armenian authorities involve servicemen into electoral process

The Armenian National Congress (ANC) has stated that it has incontestable evidences that the authorities of Armenia are undertaking steps towards involving regular soldiers into electoral processes, which is the roughest violation of the Electoral Code, as Vladimir Karapetyan, the ANC spokesman, has informed journalists.

Mr Karapetyan has presented a copy of a list of soldiers, which will be provided a three-day holiday for coming to Yerevan and taking part in voting. The list gives particular names of soldiers, dates of recruitment, numbers of military units and addresses. The ANC spokesman said that lists were compiled according to the order of the Minister of Defence of April 6 addressed to commanders of military units and running that the soldiers registered in Yerevan should be provided with a three-day leave and given out their passports for participation in the voting.

In reply to this, Seiran Shakhsuvaryan, press secretary of the Ministry of Defence, said: "Maybe the Armenian National Congress had made such lists for themselves, and now disseminates them."
