Ex-commander of National Guard is on hunger strike in prison
General Koba Kobaladze, former commander of the National Guard of Georgia, accused of preparing a putsch, is on his 11th day of hunger strike at the pre-trial isolation facility, as reported on May 17 by his advocate Gela Nikolaishvili.
Mr Kobaladze was detained in Tbilisi in the context with the events in the armoured battalion in Mukhrovani, which was treated by the authorities as a military mutiny.
According to the advocate, Koba Kobaladze refuses to admit his guilt and demands his immediate release, as reported by the "Interfax" Agency.
Mr Nikolaishvili has noted that the state of health of his client becomes worse with every day of his hunger strike, as the "Russian News Service" reports.
