Mother asks Evkurov to protect her detained son from power agents

Ilez Gardanov and Ilez Gorchkhanov, detained on May 14 near Sunzha River in the Pliev Municipal District of Nazran, were severely beaten and tortured by law enforcers. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learnt about it from Gardanov's mother Raishat. She asks President of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov to interfere into the matter.

According to the official information of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Ingushetia, on May 14, in the Pliev Municipal District of the city of Nazran, two local residents - Ilez Gardanov, 22, and Ilez Gorchkhanov, 25, - were detained; in the car of one of them a Kalashnikov and two self-made grenades, the so-called "Khattab grenades", were found.

According to Raishat, Ilez Gardanov's mother, the detention was accompanied by a range of offences committed by law enforcers, including planting of firearms and use of torture and beatings.

Today, Ilez Gardanov is kept at the IVS (Temporary Detention Facility) of the MIA in Nazran, and Gorchkhanov - at the IVS of Malgobek. They are charged with illegal storage of arms and ammunition, accomplished in conspiracy (punished by imprisonment for 2-6 years). The term of investigatory actions is 2 months.

Back last November, Gardanov's mother addressed her application to President of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov, asking him to protect the son from an arbitrariness of law enforcers. "Non-sanctioned searches were repeatedly held in our house; they kept asking about my son," Raishat Gardanova said.

Now, she has again addressed Ingushetia's leader and Azamat Nalgiev, Chairman of the Public Commission on Human Rights under Republic's President, for defence of her son's rights.
