Five of six women killed in Chechnya identified

The law enforcement bodies of Chechnya have established the persons of five young women, whose bodies were found on November 26 in Grozny and Grozny District of the Republic. One killed woman is not identified yet. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learnt about it from a source in the Republic's law enforcement bodies.

"By now, we managed to identify five out of six women assassinated yesterday. Three of them were residents of the city of Grozny. Two casualties were sisters, natives of the Kurchaloy District. The sixth casualty has not been identified yet," a Chechen militia officer said.

The motives of all these murders are still unclear, although the robbery is deemed improbable. "All the victims had money on them untouched. The murderers did not take their golden chains and rings; they touched nothing in fact," the source has added.

Ombudsman Chechnya Nurdi Nukhazhiev said in his interview to the "Kommersant" newspaper that these murders could be accomplished by relatives of the victims, and the reason could be in disgraceful behaviour of the latter. "Unfortunately, we have women here who began forgetting the behaviour code of Moslem women. Their male relatives, feeling themselves insulted, sometimes resort to lynch law," he said.
