Another skirmish in Abkhazian-Georgian border

Today, frontier guards of Abkhazia have entered a skirmish with a Georgian armed group, which tried to get into the pre-border Gali District of Abkhazia.

Laurens Kogoniya, local district militia head, said that patrolling Abkhazian frontier guards confronted, in the vicinity of Saberio village, an armed group of six persons. During the battle, which was supported by artillery and machine-gun shelling from the territory of Georgia, one person was lost from the Georgian party.

"The incident is another Georgian provocation with the aim to show that the situation in Abkhazia is not stable," the IA Regnum quotes Mr Kogoniya as saying.

He has added that the armed group, with which the Abkhazian frontier collided, later disappeared in the adjacent Georgian territory, the RIA "Novosti" writes.
