Newspaper "Chernovik" to file suit against Dagestan prosecutor

Nadira Isayeva, chief editor of Dagestan weekly "Chernovik", reported that the decision of initiating a criminal case against her would be appealed against, while the newspaper editing board would file a request to initiate a criminal case against the prosecutor of the Republic of Dagestan.

"The decision on initiating a criminal case against me will surely be appealed against," said Nadira Isayeva, chief editor of "Chernovik" to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "Possibly, the "Chernovik" editing board will file a request to initiate a criminal case against the prosecutor of the Republic of Dagestan for hindering the activity of journalists ".

According to Nadira Isayeva, the results of the linguistic analysis cited by the prosecutor's office contain no specific conclusions.

"No references to specific articles or citations from the newspaper have been mentioned," says Nadira Isayeva. "Out of the 10 articles selected for the expert analysis, virtually all contain critics of the law enforcement agencies. The linguistic analysis gives a conclusion that the newspaper stirs hostility with regard to representatives of law enforcement agencies, a socio-professional group. However, no laws, including the country's Constitution, contain any definition of such "socio-professional group as law enforcement agencies". Correspondingly, the prosecutor's office charges are far from being grounded".
