Meeting of "Olympic Games-2014 victims" held in Sochi

A meeting of "Olympic Games-2014 victims" was held in Sochi on August 4, protecting against the selling of land in the city center, construction development of beeches and forced relocation of Imeretin valley residents.

5 thousand leaflets with a call to take part in the meeting were disseminated, however, only slightly more than one hundred people  attended the action, reports "RIA Novosti".

"The Olympic festival is incompatible with such level of lawlessness", stated Valeri Suchkov, member of the Sochi Public City Building Council.

After the meeting, the organizers were invited to the office of Sochi head for discussing their demands directly with the mayor who resolutely condemned the participants' actions.

"We are going to solve the problems of people from whom property will be alienated. But the attempts of those who want to use the situation for their own purposes will be curbed, whether they like it or not", said Vladimir Afanasenkov, Sochi mayor.

The Sochi mayor stated that one-and-a-half thousand buildings in the Imeretin valley are within the construction zone of Olympic sights. By August 17, the land plots which are subject to alienation must be registered in the cadaster, while from August 17 to September 1, orders on the land alienation for the Olympic sights must be issued.

Vasili Nadiradze, vice-governor of Krasnodarski krai, said during the meeting that the residents of the Imeretin valley have an opportunity to develop their business by investing into the Olympic infrastructure, reports "Interfax".
